The project was a POC tapping the water at the bifurcation point of main canal of Periyar Valley Irrigation Project. The project operates at a miniscule head of 3 meters. The project had many hurdles as this was the first of its kind to be connected to the LT grid of the state distribution utility. At first this project was designed as a mechanical drive to drive an oil mill. AS we got the clearances from Authorities, the project was later made into a net-metering scheme with banking facilities. The success of the project has led to many other projects
