Kallar Micro Hydel project (50kW) was executed by the Idukki Power Generation Company (owned by the Idukki District Panchayat), during the year 2001 to tap potential energy of water flowing through Kallar river at a point close to NH 49 Cochin Madurai highway 15 Km from Adimali towards Munnar. The project was completed in IPP model in the year 2014. Turbine has capacity of 63.4 kW at 800 RPM and it is supplied by M/s Willot JLA, Belgium. Turbine is coupled through pulley belt arrangement to drive electric generator of 50 kW. The project was, unfortunately, washed away by the act of God in the floods of 2018.
